We Interrupt This Programming

I am very resistant to being perceived as a fanboy, but I make a single exception.

Brandon Sanderson just released a kickstarter for some new books he wrote during the pandemic and you better believe I backed it the moment it came to my attention. In case you are wondering how many other people are that excited, he’s raised $3.8 million in just over 2 hours. That’s insane.

In case you haven’t read Brandon Sanderson: first off, what rock do you live under. Second, I really enjoy his Skyward series. He also has a huge interwoven group of series called the Cosmere. There are a lot of places you could start there: The Way of Kings if you’re into very long epic fantasy, Warbreaker if you’re into less-epic fantasy or are a visual artist (it’s a very color-heavy magic system), or The Alloy of Law if you’re into westerns or more modern fantasy.

I also want to mention how cool it is that he wrote to improve his burnout from writing. I totally understand that: I definitely program new stuff to help when I get burned out from programming. I love the idea of writing to help my burnout, but for now this is the only writing you get. Maybe soon. My wife, on the other hand, has been doing some excellent writing of microfiction lately, so expect to see some her writing linked here soon.

In case Brandon Sanderson isn’t your cup of tea, go find some other writer, artist, whatever and buy something from them today instead!
